Superfluid nuclear matter calculations

چکیده

We present a method to calculate nuclear matter properties in the superfluid phase. The method is based on the use of self-consistent off-shell nucleon propagators in the T-matrix equation. Such a complete treatment of the spectral function, is required below and around Tc due to a pseudogap formation in the spectral function. In the superfluid phase we introduce the anomalous self-energy in the fermion propagators and in the T-matrix equation, consistently with the strong coupling BCS equations. The equations for the nucleon spectral function include both a contribution of condensed and scattering pairs. The method is illustrated by numerical calculations. Above Tc pseudogap formation is visible in the spectral function and below Tc a superfluid gap also appears. PACS: 24.10Cn, 21.65+f

A ug 2 00 5 Spectral properties of nuclear matter

We review self-consistent spectral methods for nuclear matter calculations. The in-medium T −matrix approach is conserving and thermodynamically consistent. It gives both the global and the single-particle properties the system. The T −matrix approximation allows to address the pairing phenomenon in cold nuclear matter. A generalization of nuclear matter calculations to the superfluid phase is ...

Two-particle properties in nuclear matter at finite temperatures

Correlation effects in nuclear matter at finite temperatures are studied for subnuclear densities (ρ < ρ0) and medium excitation energy, where a nonrelativistic potential approach is possible. A quantum statistical approach is given, where clusters are treated under the influence of a clustered medium treated within a mean field approximation. Spectral functions, in-medium cross sections, and r...

Landau Ginzburg Theory and Nuclear Matter at Finite Temperature

Based on recent studies of the temperature dependence of the energy and specific heat of liquid nuclear matter, a phase transition is suggested at a temperature ∼ .8 MeV. We apply Landau Ginzburg theory to this transition and determine the behaviour of the energy and specific heat close to the critical temperature in the condensed phase. The existence of an energy gap in the spectrum of even-ev...

We review recent progress in the theory of neutron matter with particular emphasis on its superfluid properties. Results of quantum Monte Carlo calculations of simple and realistic models of uniform superfluid neutron gas are discussed along with those of neutrons interacting in a potential well chosen to approximate neutron-rich oxygen isotopes. The properties of dilute superfluid Fermi gases ...

Neutron Matter from Low-Momentum Interactions

We present a perturbative calculation of the neutron matter equation of state based on low-momentum twoand three-nucleon interactions. Our results are compared to the model-independent virial equation of state and to variational calculations, and we provide theoretical error estimates by varying the cutoff used to regulate nuclear interactions. In addition, we study the dependence of the BCS S0...
